Luxury Blue Epoxy Travel Chess Set with Wooden Pieces
Open this one on a hotel desk and the room changes slightly. The dark squares are cast in glossy blue epoxy against pale wood, and the colour is far stronger than anything you expect from a board this size — a proper blue, deep and clear, not a stain or a print. A stippled border cut into the edge runs the whole way round, and bronze hinges take the fold.
What makes it a travel chess set worth owning is that nothing about it was cheapened for the size. The 32 pieces are turned in beech and walnut, the real woods, not plastic filling out a small box. It closes to 11.8 x 5.9" / 30 x 15 cm and goes in a bag, and it comes back out looking like a wooden chess set someone chose rather than one they settled for.
