Teal Epoxy Travel Chess Set with Gold and Black Metal Pieces — Handmade in Armenia
Marbled teal epoxy fills the dark squares of this travel chess set, poured into a pale unstained beech board with a plain square edge, and 32 ornate cast-metal pieces — one army gold-toned, the other black — stand on it. 15.7 × 15.7 in (40 × 40 cm) open, handmade in Armenia, with felt inside and a bag.
This is the wooden chess set where the colour is the whole decoration. Each teal square is its own pour, swirling between sea-green and turquoise and polished level with the beech, and the frame round it is left plain but for a scored line and the brass coordinate discs. The pieces are cast in openwork metal, small and dense, worked all over with pierced and beaded surfaces, gold on one side and black on the other.
Closed, it is a slim pale case on one clasp; opened the other way, each half is a well of black felt where the metal army lies flat and silent between games. Nothing cut through the frame and no second field — the point of this one is the colour and the pieces.

Good to Know Before You Buy
Is the carving real? The pieces are cast metal — pierced and beaded all over, cool and dense in the hand — finished gold on one side and black on the other. The teal is epoxy resin poured into each square and polished flush with the pale beech, so it is part of the board rather than a coating; the coordinates are brass discs and the line border is scored. Nothing is printed.
