Luxury Teal Epoxy Chess Set with Bronze Pieces
The dark squares on this board are not wood at all. They are cast in glossy teal epoxy resin, set flush into pale beech and ringed with brass coordinate markers, so the whole surface is one clean plane with the colour doing all the contrast. It is an unusual thing to see on a chess board and it reads beautifully from across a room — far more alive than the usual dark-and-light timber.
What arrives with it is a full army of ornate bronze figural pieces, one side gilded and one blackened, each one sculpted rather than turned. They have real weight, and that matters: a piece with heft lands with a small definite sound and stays exactly where you put it. Together with the resin board it makes a luxury chess set that behaves like a serious playing set and looks like a display piece — and at 15.7" / 40 cm it folds down to 7.9 x 15.7" and travels without complaint.
