Abu Dhabi Falcon Emblem Backgammon Set with Handle — Handmade in Armenia

A falcon with wings spread stands over two crossed flags in the beaded roundel of this Abu Dhabi backgammon set, with أبوظبي cut in Arabic script on the ribbon above it — the emblem of the emirate, carved in relief on a stippled ground. Leaf scrolls fan out on either side of the roundel and a cut-out carry handle passes through the top edge of each half. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm folded, handmade in Armenia.

The reverse of the wooden backgammon board is an inlaid chequered panel of pale and dark squares, with a carved leaf scroll in the panel on each side.

Open, the board is inlaid in pale wood: arrow-tipped points and an interlaced roundel at the centre of each half, with cut-out grips in the side rails and a dice recess at each corner. Thirty-two wooden checkers and a pair of dice are included.
