Luxury Blue Epoxy Chess Set with Bronze Warriors
The pieces are the reason for this one. Instead of the usual abstract shapes, this set comes with 32 figural bronze pieces cast as classical Greek warriors — and the rooks are columns, which is exactly the joke a good sculptor makes when nobody asks them to. Every piece is sculpted, weighty and individual, and the whole army stands on a compact board whose dark squares are poured in glossy blue epoxy resin, ringed with brass coordinate markers.
The contrast in scale is what makes it charming. At 11.8" / 30 cm, folding to 5.9 x 11.8" and weighing 3 kg / 6.6 lb, this is a genuine travel chess set — and yet what comes out of the bag is a bronze army. It is a great deal of character in a very small package, and a luxury chess set that will be taken far more places than a full-size one ever would.
