Every one of those little rounds is a cross-section of a real branch, and every one of them has its own rings. Count them and you are counting actual years. Dozens of them are set across the lid of this luxury walnut backgammon set, cast into dark epoxy resin and ground back to a single smooth plane, so the whole surface is a mosaic of end grain — pale hearts, dark bark edges, no two the same, because branches do not grow to a pattern.
It is the most natural-looking board the workshop makes and, oddly, one of the most technical: the resin has to fill every gap around every round without a single bubble, and the whole thing has to come back flat. Open the clasps, let the bronze hinges swing back, and the full 23.6" / 60 cm playing field is waiting in walnut. At 6 kg / 13.2 lb this is a serious wooden backgammon board, and it brings the woodland into a room without a single carved leaf on it.
