A tree of life grows from one corner of each outer face of this backgammon set, its trunk and branches cut into the walnut and filled with deep green epoxy that reaches every edge, with a cut-out carry handle in the top edge between the boughs. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm / 11.8″ × 23.6″ closed, handmade in Armenia.

The two trees mirror each other across the wooden backgammon board, the green pooling wide at the roots and thinning to twigs at the top, and the handle cut-out runs through both halves so either face can be carried uppermost. Inside, the walnut field carries slender lattice points, a ringed disc in each half and a scroll border incised into the wood, with carved scalloped rails at the ends and a long recess in each corner for the dice.

Brass hinges and two side clasps keep it closed; a set of wooden checkers in dark and pale and a pair of dice come with it.
