Green is the obvious colour for a tree, which makes it the hardest one to make interesting — and this board manages it by going deep rather than bright. The tree of life spreads right across the closed walnut lid of this luxury backgammon set, its branches filled with rich green epoxy resin that sits somewhere between moss and bottle glass, catching light along the edges where the resin meets the wood.
It also has a cut-out carry handle, which changes what the board is for. A tree of life is a symbol about family and continuity, and this one is built to be carried to wherever the family actually is — a sister's kitchen, a grandfather's balcony, somebody's new flat.
