Luxury Walnut Backgammon Set - Tree of Life in Blue Epoxy
Nobody has ever seen a blue tree, and the carver went ahead anyway. The tree of life is cut into the walnut lid of this luxury backgammon set and its branches are filled with deep blue epoxy resin, so the whole design reads like a tree growing in water, or against a night sky, or through weather — whichever you decide when you look at it. Against the warm dark walnut, the blue is the only cool thing on the board, and it wins your attention immediately.
The tree of life is the oldest thing Armenians carve, and it usually turns up in browns and golds. Seeing it in this colour is a jolt, in the good way — the symbol is ancient and the treatment is not, which is exactly the sort of contradiction that makes people pick a board up. Open the clasps, let the bronze hinges swing back, and the full 23.6" / 60 cm playing field is waiting in the same walnut.
