This is the wooden chess set for a room with colour in it. The resin is poured into the squares and polished level, so the field plays flat and the blue has depth like water; a fine diamond lattice is carved round the frame, the coordinates sit on small brass roundels, and the whole box stands on four low feet. The pieces are cast bronze with filigree crowns and horse-head knights, on white and teal bases.
