Chess Set with Storage - Octagonal Blue Epoxy
An octagonal board, not a square one, with the dark squares filled in glossy turquoise-blue epoxy against warm maple. The resin has real depth in it, so the colour moves as the light does — closer to water than to paint. At each corner of the wide frame an eagle is carved in relief, wings worked into the scrollwork around it, which is what stops this reading as a purely modern piece.
Underneath, a felt-lined drawer slides out on a brass pull and takes all 32 pieces. That is the practical half of a chess set with storage, and it changes how the board gets used: nothing goes into a bag, nothing gets lost in a sideboard, and the set stays out permanently because it is already tidy. At 9 kg and 19.6" / 50 cm across it is meant to stay where you put it and be played on there.
