Landmarks of Russia Backgammon Set with Handle — Handmade in Armenia
Three frames, three landmarks: on this Russian backgammon set the double-headed eagle with sceptre and orb fills the large roundel at the centre, a five-domed cathedral stands in the oval on the left and Saint Basil's with its clustered onion domes in the oval on the right. Leaf scrolls curl between the frames over a stippled ground, a diamond lattice fills the corners and a cut-out carry handle passes through the top edge of each half. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm folded, handmade in Armenia.
The second outer face of the wooden backgammon board carries a chequered panel, each pale square cut with a small flower, between two panels of leaf scrolls.
Inside, a map of Russia is inlaid in pale wood in each half with Москва, Санкт-Петербург, Екатеринбург, Новосибирск and Хабаровск lettered on it, between pale inlaid points with leaf tips; cut-out grips sit in the side rails with a dice recess at each corner. Thirty-two wooden checkers and a pair of dice are included.

Good to Know Before You Buy
Which cathedral is on the left? A large five-domed cathedral with a colonnaded drum — it is not lettered, so we describe it rather than name it. Saint Basil's on the right is unmistakable from its onion domes. The maps and points inside are pale wood set into the dark beech.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free worldwide and tracked. Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Brush the carving with a soft dry brush and wipe the flat surfaces with a dry cloth. Keep the board out of direct sun and store it closed with the checkers inside.
