Luxury Royal Blue Epoxy Travel Chess Set
Small boards usually get made cheaply, on the assumption that nobody looks closely at a travel set. This one was not. The dark squares are poured in vivid royal-blue epoxy resin against pale wood and ringed with brass coordinate markers, exactly as they are on the workshop's full-size boards — the size came down, the standard did not.
At 11.8" / 30 cm it folds to 5.9 x 11.8" and weighs 3 kg / 6.6 lb, so it goes in a bag without ceremony, and it comes complete with 32 turned pieces in beech and walnut. That is the useful thing about a travel chess set that actually looks good: it stops living in a cupboard between trips and starts living on a shelf, where somebody eventually picks it up and starts a game on a Tuesday.
