Luxury Folding Chess Table with Eight-Point Star — Handmade in Armenia
Closed, this luxury chess table shows a carved eight-point star in a lattice roundel; opened, the top folds out to a 60 cm board with a carved recess for each of the 32 wooden pieces round its edge. It stands 70 cm / 27.6″ high on cabriole legs, 30 × 60 cm / 11.8″ × 23.6″ folded, handmade in Armenia.
This is the wooden chess table that stores itself. The border of the open board is cut with silhouettes — a king-shaped hollow, a knight-shaped hollow, sixteen a side — so the pieces lie flush and the top closes over them on brass hinges with a clasp. The closed top carries the big star, a small brass star at each end, and lattice cut fine across the ground.
The apron is carved in lattice with a brass star on the front, and the legs curve out to small pad feet. Folded, it is a narrow console against a wall; opened, two chairs and an evening. The legs bolt on after delivery and the top arrives in a wooden crate.

Good to Know Before You Buy
How does the top open? It is hinged along one edge and folds out flat to double its width — 30 cm closed, 60 cm open — and a brass clasp holds it shut. The pieces stay in their recesses round the board while it is closed, so you open it and the set is already there.

How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Dust the star and the lattice with a soft brush, wipe the field with a dry cloth, and close the top with the pieces in their recesses.
