Handmade in Armenia from beech wood, this round pedestal chess table measures 23.6 in across and 27.6 in high (60 × 70 cm). A carved column and four scrolled legs support the inlaid board, with acanthus carving around the field. A felt-lined apron drawer stores the included 32 wooden chess pieces.
This is the wooden chess table with the most carving below the top. The column is turned and cut with acanthus leaves, the four legs sweep out in pierced scrolls to the floor, and the deep apron is textured all the way round with a brass pendant pull on the drawer. On the top, the coordinates sit on small brass roundels beside the squares.
The pieces are turned in light and dark wood, 16 a side, and go in the drawer between games — a felt-lined tray on metal runners, so it glides. The top and pedestal ship separately and bolt together after delivery.
