Eagle heads carved on four cabriole legs carry this luxury chess table, and a cast brass eagle mask looks out from a carved oval at each end of the top. Drawers in the apron hold the 32 gold-toned bronze pieces. The table is 60 × 60 × 68 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ × 26.8″, handmade in Armenia from beech.

This is the wooden chess table built round one bird. Feathers are carved down each leg from the eagle's head at the knee to a ball-and-claw foot; acanthus scrolls fill the serpentine border round the inlaid field, with the coordinates on brass roundels; and the apron is carved to match, with a brass pull on each drawer.

The pieces are cast openwork in a gold tone — crowned kings and queens, horse-head knights, pierced bishops and rooks — on turned wooden bases, pale for one side and dark for the other. The legs bolt on after delivery, so the table ships flat and stands square in minutes.
