Emerald resin runs like water between islands of burl walnut on every face of this luxury backgammon set — the live edges of the slabs left as the tree grew them, the epoxy poured between and polished flat. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, handmade in Armenia, with 30 turned checkers, dice and a bag.

This is the wooden backgammon set that looks different from every angle: the resin is translucent, so light goes down into it and comes back green, deep where the river is wide and almost clear where it narrows against the bark line, and the burl round it is all knots and swirl. Both outer faces carry their own river, and closed the board is a slim glossy slab on brass clasps.

Inside, the field is the same emerald and burl, the points marked by scalloped rails along each edge, a trough at each end for the checkers and dice. The checkers are turned wood cut with concentric rings, fifteen pale and fifteen dark, and a dice cup sits with them.
