Eagle and lion hold the shield of Armenia at the centre of this luxury Armenian backgammon set, the coat of arms carved in relief and ringed by a wheel of marbled green, teal and turquoise epoxy panels, a chip-carved zigzag band and an eternity sign in every corner. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, handmade in Armenia.

This is the wooden backgammon set that puts the emblem in stone-and-water colours instead of flag colours: sixteen resin panels in three shades run round the arms like spokes, each one poured separately and polished flush, the walnut between them left matt so the colour does the moving. The wheel spans both halves, so the closed board shows a half-wheel with a spiral in each corner.

Inside, the walnut is plain and striped: points scored in fine lines with arrow tips, a flower drawn in each half, scalloped rails and a trough along each end. The 30 checkers are turned wood, pale and dark, each set with a small cast crest, and a pair of dice rides with them. Brass clasps hold the halves shut.
