A river of deep green epoxy winds across the lid of this luxury backgammon set, poured between two slabs of figured walnut and polished level with the wood, and when the board opens the same river runs through each half of the field inside. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, handmade in Armenia.

This is the wooden backgammon set with no carving and no drawn points: the walnut is left plain and glossy, the resin swirls dark and light like water over stone, and the six scallops cut into each rail mark where the checkers stand. The outer faces are finished the same way, the rails have long troughs at each end, and brass clasps hold it shut.

The checkers are wooden discs topped in resin, fifteen green and fifteen terracotta, with a pair of dice; together with the river they make the board read in colour from across the room.

Is the green a print or paint? Neither — it is epoxy resin poured into the gap between two pieces of walnut, cured, then ground and polished level with the wood, on the lid and inside both halves. The scallops on the rails are cut into the wood. No printing, no applied parts.
