Luxury Georgian Backgammon Table with Coat of Arms
A crowned shield held up by two lions, worked in a bright silver-toned finish at the centre of the lid, with two smaller versions either side of it. Against the warm wood the metal tone reads immediately from across a room. Closed, on its cabriole legs, this is a side table that happens to be carrying a country's emblem.
Open it flat and there is a full 23.6" / 60 cm playing field with 32 checkers in beech and walnut, a dice cup and dice. And it is the practical one of the family: the legs detach, so a table this size ships flat and stores in a cupboard when a house is short of space — which is not something most backgammon tables will do for you.
