That dance, drawn from the epic Daredevils of Sassoun, is carved across this walnut backgammon set in astonishing deep relief: a line of figures mid-step, arms linked, caught at the exact moment joy becomes defiance.
It is the most demanding thing a carver can attempt — human bodies in motion, each one distinct, each one turned slightly differently, all of them cut into solid walnut without a single break in the line. Stand it in the light and the shadows move as you move, so the dance never quite stops.
Inside waits a full 23.6" / 60 cm nardi field — a handmade Armenian backgammon board carrying the one thing every Armenian family knows: you survive, and then you dance about it. This is not a board that gets put away in a cupboard. It gets a place in the room and a story told about it.
