Armenian Backgammon Set - Central Ornament and Bronze
At the center of this Armenian backgammon set, a great round ornament blooms — carved petal by petal into the lid — while two bronze filigree discs shine on either side like a pair of small suns. Wood doing the warm work, metal doing the bright work: one of the most ornamental boards in the whole collection.
The ground between them is worked in fine cross-hatching, so there is not an empty centimeter anywhere. Open it and a full 23.6" / 60 cm nardi field waits inside — a handmade wooden backgammon board for the table that likes a little ceremony with its dice.
