Every nation has an emblem; not every nation gets it carved. On this handmade Armenian backgammon set the coat of arms of Armenia holds centre stage in a carved oval, flanked by two bronze filigree ornaments that catch the light like a pair of honor guards. Beneath them, the whole lid is worked in a finely cross-hatched ground — nothing left plain.
Inside waits a full 23.6" / 60 cm nardi field. Set it between two players and the board does what the arms have always done: gathers Armenians around one table. A wooden backgammon board for the house where heritage is not stored away — it is played with.
