Eight-Pointed Star Backgammon Set with Bronze Handles

Eight-Pointed Star Backgammon Set with Bronze Handles — Handmade in Armenia

A faceted eight-pointed star, cut so every point catches light on a different plane, sits in the roundel of this carved backgammon set, with a small bronze star disc on each flank, the dark lid cut all over into diamond lattice and a cast bronze handle on each half. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm / 11.8″ × 23.6″ closed, handmade in Armenia.

Flip the wooden backgammon board and the second face repeats the two star discs either side of a chequered panel of pale and dark squares. The interior keeps the dark stain, with the points let in as two pale tones and a pale eight-pointed star in each half, carved scalloped rails along the ends and a long recess in every corner for the dice; the two bronze handles meet along the top edge once the case is shut.

A clasp at each side and brass hinges hold it closed, and it comes with wooden checkers in dark and pale and a pair of dice.

Good to Know Before You Buy

Is the star carved? Yes — each point is cut on its own angled facets so the star reads in light and shadow, the ring round it is stitched in relief and the lattice across the lid is cut line by line. The flanking discs are bronze filigree inlays; the stars and points inside are pale wood let into the dark field.

What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free worldwide and tracked. Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.

How do I look after it? Dust the relief and lattice with a soft brush and wipe the flat wood with a dry cloth. Keep the board out of direct sun and store it closed with the checkers inside.
