Eight-Pointed Star and Metal Stars Backgammon Set with Handle — Handmade in Armenia
Cut as eight sharp facets meeting at a point, a large eight-pointed star fills the beaded roundel at the centre of this carved wooden backgammon set, with a small cast-metal star set into a roundel at each end, a fine lattice covering the rest of the lid and a cut-out carry handle through the top edge. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm folded, handmade in Armenia.
Each ray of the carved star is a raised ridge that catches the light on one side and shadows the other, so the star changes as you move round the table; the two metal stars are brass-toned. On the other outer face of the wooden backgammon board the same two emblems flank a chequered panel of pale and dark squares.
Inside, a pale inlaid eight-pointed star sits in each half above pale inlaid points with arrow tips, with rope-carved handle bars at the sides and a dice recess in every corner. Thirty-two turned wooden checkers, a pair of dice and a carrying bag come with the board.

Why You'll Love It
-
One star, three ways: faceted in wood on the lid, cast in metal at the ends, inlaid inside.
-
Facets, not flat: the rays are ridged, so the star reads in light and shadow.
-
All photographed: checkers, dice and the carrying bag are in the pictures.
Good to Know Before You Buy
Is it an octagon? No — it is an eight-pointed star with faceted rays, carved in wood at the centre; the four small stars at the ends are cast metal with a brass-coloured finish. The stars and points inside are pale wood set into the dark beech.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free worldwide and tracked. Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Brush the lattice and the facets of the star with a soft dry brush and wipe the flat surfaces and metal stars with a dry cloth. Keep the board out of direct sun and carry it in its bag with the checkers inside.
