Luxury Green Epoxy Chess Set with Grapevine Border
Green resin and grapevines is not a coincidence. The dark squares of this folding board are poured in glossy green epoxy, and around the whole 19.6" / 50 cm field the carver has cut clusters of grapes and vine leaves by hand — so the colour of the squares and the subject of the border are telling the same story about abundance. In this part of the world that is not decoration; it is more or less the local religion.
It is a lavish amount of carving for a chess board, and the vine work is deep enough to catch shadow rather than being scratched into the surface. There is a built-in carry handle cut into the edge, so despite the generous size it folds to 9.8 x 19.6" and comes with you — which suits it, because a board about plenty ought to be taken to where the food is. Complete with 32 turned pieces in beech and walnut.
