A carved ornament centred on the lid, a fine cross-hatch lattice border running round it, and elegant cabriole legs holding the whole thing at proper playing height. Thirteen kilos of solid beech — it does not move when somebody leans on it, and it does not need to be put anywhere when the game finishes.

Open it flat and the field is inlaid in light and dark beech across a full 23.6" / 60 cm, with 32 checkers, a dice cup and dice included. What you are buying is the end of a small recurring annoyance: no clearing the table, no fetching the board, no wrong height. The nardi is already there, at the right level, between two chairs.
