Georgian Coat of Arms Backgammon Set with Inlaid Disc

Georgian Coat of Arms Backgammon Set with Inlaid Disc — Handmade in Armenia

Drawn in fine black line on a disc of pale wood, the coat of arms of Georgia — crown, two rampant lions, Saint George spearing the dragon on the shield and the motto ribbon below — sits inside a rope-bordered roundel at the centre of this Georgian backgammon set, with a diamond lattice cut across the lobed panels either side and a chip-carved border round the lid. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 30 × 60 cm folded, handmade in Armenia.

Its reverse trades the emblem for squares — light and dark wood set flush as a chequered panel — with a whorl carved into the lattice at each end.

Open the carved backgammon set and the arms appear again, inlaid in pale wood at the centre of each half with the motto ძალა ერთობაშია beneath, one crest facing each player between fleur-tipped inlaid points; cut-out grips in the rails, corner dice recesses and brass-toned hinges. Thirty-two beech and walnut checkers and dice are included.

Why You'll Love It

• Crisp as a seal: the arms are drawn in fine line on pale wood, so every detail of the lions and the saint reads clearly.
• Lattice all round: the diamond net covers the lobed panels, leaving the pale disc as the one smooth surface on the lid.
• Arms for both players: the crest is inlaid in each half with its motto, facing whoever sits there.

Good to Know Before You Buy

Is the coat of arms carved in relief? No — the old listing described a full board of carving in motion, but the arms are drawn in fine line on a pale inlaid disc; the relief work is the lattice and border round it. There is no cut-out top grip on this board; it lifts by the grips in its rails. The old copy also listed a carrying bag that is not photographed, so it is not included here.

What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free worldwide and tracked. Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.

How do I look after it? Wipe the inlaid faces with a dry cloth and brush the lattice with a soft dry brush. Keep the board out of direct sun and store it closed with the checkers inside.
