Three drawers on a 40 cm board — front, left and right — make this chess set with storage the most self-contained small board we sell, under a frame of leaf scrolls carved round an inlaid field, on four short legs. It is 40 × 40 × 10 cm / 15.7″ × 15.7″ × 3.9″, handmade in Armenia from beech.

A wooden chess set built like a small table. The scrolls curl along each side of the border over a dotted ground, a bead runs round the rim, the coordinates are carved pale beside the squares, and the apron below is cut in a lattice with a shaped lower edge between the tapered legs. The front drawer carries a brass pendant pull; the side drawers open on brass rings.

Pull any drawer and the pieces go in — 32 turned in light and dark wood, on felt. With a drawer on three sides there is always one within reach, so the board clears in seconds and sits on a desk or shelf with nothing left out. A bag is included for the road.
