Luxury Carved Chess Set with Brass Stars and Bronze Pieces
Four brass stars, one at each corner, eight points apiece, set flush into the wood so they sit level with the carving around them. That is what you see first — metal catching light where you do not expect it on a wooden chess set. The borders between them are cut in a fine lattice, wide and deep, and the whole board runs a full 23.6" / 60 cm with bronze coordinate markers set into the frame.
The army matches it: 32 ornate bronze figures on pale bases, heavy enough that you feel each move land. At 8 kg this carved chess set does not get carried absent-mindedly — but it does have a handle cut into the folded edge, and it does close to half its width, which is more than most boards of this weight will do for you. Set it up once and you will understand why it is built the way it is.
