A carved beaded moulding runs round the top edge of this chess set with storage, above a diamond-lattice frame and a pull-out drawer for the pieces. The board is 50 × 50 × 11 cm / 19.6″ × 19.6″ × 4.3″, handmade in Armenia from beech and walnut, with 32 wooden chess pieces and a felt-lined wooden case.

This is the wooden chess set that looks like a piece of old furniture. A row of carved beads circles the lip of the box, the frame round the squares is cut as a fine diamond lattice, and the sides are worked in a dense fretwork texture down to four small block feet. The coordinates sit on little brass roundels beside the squares.

The drawer slides out of the front for the pieces, and a separate hinged wooden case, lined in felt, is included as well — so the set can stay under the board or go out on its own. Thirty-two pieces in light and dark wood on green felt bases. Full size, for the player who has the table for it.
