Two stags in one clearing usually means trouble — unless it is autumn's truce, and the forest is quiet. The carver chose the truce: a pair of stags standing calm in a hand-carved woodland scene at the center of this backgammon set, antlers up, tempers down.
It is the right emblem for a two-player game. Open the board to its full 23.6" / 60 cm nardi field, take your side of the clearing, and keep the truce exactly as long as the dice allow. A handmade wooden backgammon set for rivals who stay friends.
