Strands pass over and under each other in ring after ring on this luxury backgammon set, a woven disc spreading from a sun boss to a rim of looping knotwork, with a flower boss in every corner — carved in relief across a 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ walnut board, handmade in Armenia.

This is the wooden backgammon set for anyone who likes to follow a line: every strand is cut with its own rounded top and its own shadow where it dips beneath the next, the weave tightens toward the sun and loosens into open loops at the edge, and the ground between the loops is stippled by hand. Closed, the board shows half the disc inside a plain moulded frame.

The field inside is the walnut itself, oiled and striped, with the points scored in fine lines that curl at the tip, a scrolled cartouche drawn in the centre of each half and scalloped rails guarding the troughs where the checkers and dice sit. Two brass clasps hold it closed.
