Two horses rear at each other across the lid of this luxury backgammon table, one black and one cream, raised in relief on a stippled ground inside a frame of carved scrolls, on a dark-stained beech table with cabriole legs. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ × 23.6″ open, 70 cm / 27.6″ high, handmade in Armenia.

The wooden backgammon table swings its top aside to reveal a black felt-lined compartment, or unfolds flat into the field: pale points with arrowhead tips inlaid into the dark wood, a pale disc of interlaced ornament in each half, a scalloped rail at each end and a recess in every corner for the dice. The apron is carved with scrolls and leaves on all sides, and each leg carries a carved leaf at the knee.

It comes with pale and dark wooden checkers, a dice cup and dice, and ships in a plywood crate with the four legs unbolted and packed beside the top.
