Carved Map of Georgia Backgammon Set with Handle — Handmade in Armenia
Cut in the same dark wood as the lid, the map of Georgia stands in relief on this Georgian backgammon set, its regions divided by incised lines and საქართველო lettered above, on a cross-hatched ground inside a rope-rimmed roundel with leaf scrolls, a rope border and an oval grip through the wavy-edged lid. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ open, handmade in Armenia.
The reverse holds the chequered panel — pale and darker squares let flush into the wood — with a carved cartouche of stippled grapes and curling leaves at each end, the grip cut beneath the panel and two small brass-toned clasps on the front edge.
Open, the playing side repeats the country: an incised map of Georgia with its regions and the name in Georgian script in each half, set between rows of incised drop-shaped points, with scalloped bar edges, rail and corner troughs and two round pierced brass-toned hinges on the spine.

Why You'll Love It
-
Carved, not inlaid: the map is raised from the lid in the same dark wood, its regions drawn in with fine incised lines.
-
Georgia twice more: the outline and its name in Georgian script are incised into each half of the playing side.
-
Carry it closed: the oval grip runs through both halves and the clasps hold the board shut.
Good to Know Before You Buy
What does the lettering say? საქართველო — Sakartvelo, Georgia's name in Georgian — arched over the map on the lid and repeated beside each map inside. Checkers, a dice set and a carrying bag are included.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free worldwide and tracked. Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Brush the map, the lettering and the cross-hatched ground with a soft dry brush and wipe the flat faces with a dry cloth. Keep the board out of direct sun and away from heat, and close both clasps before lifting it by the grip.
