The full Georgian coat of arms fills the rope-rimmed roundel of this Georgian backgammon set — St George on his horse in the shield, a rearing lion either side, the crown above and the motto ribbon below — carved in relief on a cross-hatched ground between broad leaf scrolls, inside a rope-and-leaf border on a wavy-edged lid. 60 × 60 cm / 23.6″ open, handmade in Armenia.

Turn the shut board over and there is a draughts board waiting — pale and dark squares set flush into the wood, curling-leaf cartouches with stippled grapes carved either side of it.

Open, an outline map of Georgia with its regions and საქართველო lettering is cut into each half between incised fleur-tipped points, with scalloped bar edges, rail troughs and brass-toned hinges. The five photos show the board alone.

Is the motto readable? Yes — ძალა ერთობაშია, strength is in unity, runs along the ribbon under the shield in Georgian script. The incised maps inside were never mentioned before. There is no bag: the old copy listed one, but the five photos show the board only, and the checkers and dice are listed from the maker's specification.
