Two dragons face each other across this walnut backgammon set, carved in relief so deep the light gets lost in it. Look closer and the old meaning appears: birds woven through the upper coils, serpents through the lower — sky and earth intertwined, the whole world balanced around one central emblem. Some boards show you a creature. This one shows you a cosmology.
Ask the workshop which piece shows their master carvers at full power and they will point here — the finest carving in the collection, cut into solid walnut, the wood masters save for their best work. Every scale, feather and coil is an individual decision of the chisel, and the relief is deep enough to hold real shadow.
It opens, of course — inside waits a full 23.6" / 60 cm playing field, a handmade backgammon board ready for the long games a piece like this deserves. Dragons have guarded treasure for as long as people have told stories. This time, the dragon is the treasure.
