Inside it the field is inlaid in warm walnut and maple. There is no motif and no story carved into it — just a well-shaped object that suits any room it is put in.

A drawer pulls out smoothly and takes all 32 hand-carved pieces. That is the whole point of a chess set with storage: setting up takes seconds, clearing away takes one movement, and the board simply stays where it is. At 19.6" / 50 cm it is the size most people actually have room for.
