In the 9th century they built Tatev on a cliff edge over the Vorotan gorge, and in the Middle Ages it held one of Armenia's great universities — monks, manuscripts and philosophy at the edge of a drop. Today you reach it by the longest cable car ride of its kind in the world. This Armenian backgammon set carves that whole clifftop silhouette into wood.
