Armenian Backgammon Set - Running Scroll Ornament
Follow the carved line around this Armenian backgammon set and try to find where it starts. You will not — the running scroll is the ornament that never quite repeats and never quite ends, a wave of leaf and tendril that has bordered this region's finest work for centuries.
It frames without crowding: the ornament flows around the edge and lets the wood breathe in the middle — a handmade wooden backgammon board with movement built into its stillness. Inside is a full 23.6" / 60 cm playing field, and unlike the scroll, every game does end — usually with someone demanding a rematch.
