Buying a ring online can feel risky when you don't know your size. But measuring your finger at home is simpler than you think — and with the right method, you can be accurate to within a fraction of a millimeter. Here's everything you need to know before ordering a CanarianCanary ring.
Method 1: The String Method (Most Accurate)
- Cut a thin strip of paper or a piece of string about 10 cm long.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you want to measure. It should fit comfortably — not too tight, not so loose it slides off.
- Mark where the string or paper overlaps with a pen.
- Lay the string flat and measure the length in millimeters with a ruler.
- This measurement is your finger circumference. Use the table below to find your ring size.
Ring Size Chart (Circumference to Size)
| Circumference (mm) | US Size | EU Size | UK Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 44–45 mm | 3 | 44 | F |
| 46–47 mm | 4 | 46 | H |
| 48–49 mm | 5 | 49 | J |
| 50–51 mm | 5.5 | 50 | K |
| 52–53 mm | 6 | 52 | L |
| 54–55 mm | 6.5–7 | 54 | N |
| 56–57 mm | 7.5 | 56 | O |
| 58–59 mm | 8 | 58 | P–Q |
| 60–61 mm | 8.5–9 | 60 | R–S |
| 62–63 mm | 9.5 | 62 | T |
| 64–65 mm | 10 | 64 | U–V |
Method 2: Measure an Existing Ring
If you already own a ring that fits the right finger, simply measure its internal diameter in millimeters and use the chart:
| Inner Diameter (mm) | US Size | EU Size |
|---|---|---|
| 14.9 mm | 4 | 47 |
| 15.7 mm | 5 | 49 |
| 16.5 mm | 6 | 52 |
| 17.3 mm | 7 | 54 |
| 18.1 mm | 8 | 57 |
| 18.9 mm | 9 | 59 |
| 19.8 mm | 10 | 62 |
Important Tips for Accurate Measurement
- Time of day matters. Fingers are slightly larger in the afternoon and evening, and smaller in the morning. Measure mid-day for the most representative size.
- Temperature matters. Cold weather shrinks fingers; heat expands them. Measure at room temperature.
- Measure the right hand vs. left hand. Most people's dominant hand is slightly larger. If you plan to wear the ring on your right hand, measure that hand.
- Wide bands fit smaller. If you're ordering a wide band (6mm or more), go up half a size — wide bands sit higher on the finger and feel tighter.
- When in doubt, go larger. It is easier to resize a ring down than up.
